Date: Monday April 13
Time: 10:00AM-12:00PM
Location: Richmond Wellness, 53 Railroad Street Richmond, VT in the GROW yoga studio
In this 2-hour, hands-on class, you’ll practice abdominal massage with a partner, both giving and receiving.
Open to bodyworkers/manual therapists of all experience levels including massage therapists, physical therapists, chiropractors, acupuncturists, and others with a hands-on practice or past experience in the field.
Each class reflects the current season through a TCM lens.
Spring is associated with the Wood element, and the liver and gallbladder, which will be our focus in this session.
Whether you’re new to abdominal massage or already experienced, this is a space to build familiarity, confidence, and skill through guided practice.
We’ll begin with simple movement and breath to connect with your own center, followed by a brief demonstration of the techniques we’ll be using.
From there I’ll guide the first group of givers/receivers through a full abdominal session with clear cues around pressure, depth, pacing, and attention—so you can stay with what you’re feeling in your hands and sink into the experience.
We will take a reasonable break before switching roles.
As you work, I’ll move through the room to offer hands-on support as needed to help you refine your touch. The sessions will incorporate organ-specific massage techniques, flowy sequences with oils, a little bit of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) abdominal assessment and acupressure. There will be an opportunity to choose some techniques based on what you are feeling so you can begin to see how this work can be individualized.
You do not need to come with a partner, as long as you are comfortable being paired during the session.
